Locking Up the Vote

Felony Disenfranchisement & the Legacy of Slavery

June 28, 2018

Did you know that when convicted felons re-enter society
they may be forever barred from voting?

Proponents argue that persons who commit felonies have broken the social contract, and thereby given up their right to participate in a civil society. Opponents argue that the process restricts and conflicts with principles of universal suffrage
and undercuts African-American political power.
