In late August 1619, 20 enslaved Africans disembarked from the White Lion vessel at Point Comfort, a port in the British colony of Virginia. The trade of “20 and odd” enslaved Africans marked a major turning point in American History. Inspired by The New York Times’ The 1619 Project, you are invited to a series of lunchtime talks exploring the history and legacy of slavery in the United States.
Presenters:
Professor Joelle Murchison & Professor Brittney Yancy
FREE. Bring a lunch and join the conversation.
